Zelensky gives pro-Russian deputies 24 hours to return to the country

MADRID, Feb. 14 (.) –

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has urged the 23 deputies who have been absent from the country, most of them pro-Russian, to return to Ukraine within 24 hours.

“I want to concentrate on the management of our country. The people who are outside today, the deputies of certain parties, I don’t even want to mention their names here, everyone will understand what kind of people they are,” Zelenski said during the conference joint press with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“Personally, I would ask them to come back here in 24 hours. It is a difficult moment, a moment for the unity of the State. I think they should come back,” he said, according to the Ukrainian radio station Hromadske. If they don’t, “serious conclusions” will be drawn.

A total of 23 Ukrainian deputies –out of a total of 450– are outside the country, according to the Ukrainian authorities themselves, most of them belonging to the Opposition Platform for Life (OPZZh), a pro-Russian political party founded in December 2018.
