Yolanda Díaz closes ranks with Irene Montero: “Spain is a vanguard for expanding women’s rights”

The Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has closed ranks with Irene Montero and has strongly supported the work carried out by the Minister of Equality. “I have nothing but recognition for Minister Montero and the Ministry of Equality that she has been working for many months to broaden the rights of women.” she has declared herself.

“Today Spain is much better and is a vanguard in the world for the expansion of the rights of women, LGTBI and trans people. My full appreciation” Díaz has stressed in the corridors of the Senate, where he has attended the appearance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, who has starred in his sixth face to face with the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

The vice president has guaranteed that there will be no rupture in the coalition Executive for the reform of the law of the only yes is yes. Díaz has affirmed that work is being done within the Government to reach an agreement in order to amend the Law on the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom after the reduction of sentences for some sexual offenders and has stressed that an agreement will be reached.

“I’m sure we’re going to reach it, yes, preserving the consent and agreement of Istanbul”, he said, referring to the Council of Europe Convention signed in 2011 on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. Díaz, who has denied a break within the coalition executive, has been clear in pointing out that “I will always take care of the government coalition and they will always find me there.”

“We are facing a very good law,” he reiterated after recalling that the rule responds to the will of the feminist movement and has been widely supported by Congress. “And as you know, the will of the Government is without a doubt protect the victims of this country,” has finished.
