MADRID, Dec. 5 (Portaltic/EP) –
WhatsApp is testing the function floating window outside of the app during video calls in his version for iOSa novelty that will allow the call to remain active in a reduced window while other services of the device are used.
The instant messaging platform already allows play videos in the background from other platforms like YouTube, whose content is presented in a reduced version while the user browses the chats of the application and as long as they do not abandon it.
Now, however, WhatsApp plans to take this feature beyond the platform, since it hopes that the video calls it offers can also be viewed outside the ‘app’, while other ‘smartphone’ functionalities are developed.
In this way, while a videoconference is taking place, the user may be using other applications, browsing the Internet or viewing the files in their image and video gallery, among other actions.
To do this, the user will simply have to exit WhatsApp without ending the call and the floating window of the call will be automatically activated to see it on the side of the screen, as WABetaInfo has warned.
This 22.24.0.79 update, developed through the TestFlight program for iOS, is only available for beta testers at the moment and will allow you to directly hide the floating window to be able to see the full screen without leaving the video call.
At the moment, this function is compatible with iOS 15 and more recent versions of the operating system developed by Apple, although this portal has only been able to confirm that it works from version iOS 16.1 and subsequent updates.
Likewise, WABetaInfo has indicated that it is also compatible with the latest beta update of the subscription service for companies, WhatsApp Business, and it will be available to other users soon.
