A US State Department spokesman said that 29 American citizens were killed in attacks launched by the Hamas movement in Israel.
The spokesman added in a statement reported by the American website “Axios”, that “the United States was aware of the presence of 15 citizens and legal permanent residents missing,” and that it was “working around the clock” to determine their whereabouts.
He continued that the United States is working with the Israeli government on every aspect of the hostage crisis, including intelligence sharing.
On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said that American citizens are also “among the hostages” held by Hamas in Gaza.
