Vox will allow the approval of the budgets of the Community of Madrid by abstaining from the vote

The Vox Parliamentary Group in the Madrid Assembly stated this Monday that will abstain in the final vote on the Community Budgets for 2023what will allow Díaz Ayuso to approve the accounts. This decision by Vox comes after the “failed negotiation” with the Popular Party this past Thursday and after the Board of the Assembly rejected its partial amendments registered after the deadline on Friday.

This has been transferred by the deputy spokesperson for Vox in the Madrid Assembly, Íñigo Henríquez de Luna, at a press conference after the Board of Spokespersons. These Budgets would also go ahead with Vox’s abstention in plenary on December 21 and 22.

“Our position is going to be abstention. The proposal that the Government made us before last Thursday’s plenary session does not take our initiatives into account. We cannot support it. They cannot count on our favorable vote, although we are not going to block Madrid from having a Budget“, he has defended.
The spokesman has insisted that “after the failed negotiation with the Government before last Thursday” his decision was to get up and “break those negotiations”, apparently considering the proposal an “insult” to his voters. “We are not going to support these Budgets. We are not going to block them but we are going to abstain,” he stressed, regardless of whether they accepted the partial amendments that they registered after the deadline on Friday.

Regarding these amendments, he explained that they were saved in the registration application of the Madrid Assembly at 11:40 a.m. but that, due to “a technical failure” the pdf could not be uploaded until 12:06 p.m.. In addition, he has defended that on other occasions, such as in 2017 and 2018, Ciudadanos and Podemos also registered them after the deadline and the Board accepted them.

The PP spokesman, Pedro Muñoz Abrines, has reported that the highest parliamentary body has not accepted these amendments for processing as there has not been unanimity to continue their process.

We do not understand why you rushed the deadline so much with 87 amendments. They had two months to study the Budget. Vox’s amendments have not only had a deadline problem, but also, of the 80 approximately, some 38 would not have been accepted either because they were poorly made, “he explained.
