Unidas Podemos sinks in the territories and disappears in Madrid, the Valencian Country and the Canary Islands

Unidas Podemos has witnessed on the night of this Sunday, May 28, how their territorial power has been laminated in elections in which they have reaped the worst results in their history in municipalities and autonomous communities. The figures are unquestionable, and the decline of the transformative left can be quantified in many ways.

The candidacies of Unidas Podemos (supported by Podemos-IU coalitions in 10 of the 12 territories that have cast ballot boxes this Sunday) have gone from having 47 deputies in regional assemblies and parliaments to maintaining only 15; they have lost 32 parliamentarians causing an unprecedented territorial gap.

Podemos-IU disappears from the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Country and the Canary Islands. In the first territory they had 10 deputies in the regional Assembly and aspired to break into the City Council (where they had no representation). Their main objective in this territory was defined by the polls and the numbers: if their candidates (Alejandra Jacinto in the Community and Roberto Sotomayor in the City Council) entered the institutions, neither Ayuso nor Almeida would have an absolute majority.

The objective has not been met at the municipal level, and in the region they have also seen their strength squandered: zero deputies in the territory that the purple formation defined on its last day of campaign, last Friday, as the nucleus of power, “since where the right radiates its power to all territories, and where it is necessary to defeat them”.

United We Can has disappeared, in addition to the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Country and the Canary Islands (where they were part of the government); They have also left the governments of the Balearic Islands and Aragon. At the municipal level, Ada Colau will not revalidate the mayoralty, falling behind the Junts de Trías and the PSC de Collboni (a single councilor and a hundred votes from the Socialists).

It has also had no effect that the second vice president of the Government, Minister of Labor and promoter of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, turned to Barcelona and bet on the candidacy of Unides Podem in the Valencian Country. Illueca has been left out of Parliament and the comuns lost what was called the triple tie battle with Junts and the PSC.
