MADRID, 9 Jan. (.) –
The Ukrainian authorities have warned this Monday that the Russian Army has launched a new offensive against the city of Soledar, north of Bakhmut, in Donetsk, after the latest failed attempts to gain control of the town.
“The enemy has deployed a large number of assault groups made up of the best reserves of the Wagnerians,” said Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar, referring to the Wagner Group mercenaries.
However, Malyar has ironized that Russia is now launching an offensive against the corpses of those Russian soldiers who lost their lives in the latest assault attempt against Soledar, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
“The enemy is literally attacking the corpses of its own soldiers, massively using artillery, volley fire systems and mortars, even covering its own fighters with fire,” the Ukrainian deputy defense minister said.
Thus, Malyar has summarized that “fierce battles are taking place at the moment” in Soledar, although he has stressed that the Ukrainian troops are “valiantly” defending every square meter of territory.
The efforts of the Russian Armed Forces have focused in recent days on unsuccessfully gaining control of the city of Bakhmut and its surroundings, where not only Soledar is located, but also Bakhmutske, a small town that Moscow has secured this Monday. have conquered.
Bakhmut has recently become one of the hottest points in the conflict in Ukraine. The kyiv authorities have repeatedly detailed that it is precisely in this city that Russia is now concentrating almost all its efforts.
