The socialist candidate seeks the support of the former mayor for her electoral campaign. “She will be the one who decides where she wants to be and I hope that we can do events together, meetings… because she does represent change and we want to recover the city for the people of Madrid,” added Maroto.
Madrid PSOE sources explain to Public that this outstretched hand does not translate into an offer to go on the electoral lists. A possibility that has been speculated on a lot but that she herself rejected a few days ago. The same sources limit her collaboration to maintaining a fluid dialogue and can also share different events or spaces.
“Carmena has been a great mayoress for the city of Madrid. The four years that she was leading the change in the city have had their results and we are in a moment of change. Carmena has made herself available for my candidacyas well as other left-wing candidacies to help bring change back”, highlighted Maroto during a visit to the Moratalaz neighborhood.
Already last december Maroto herself approached the craft store in which Carmena participates. A quote that she spread on her social media. The former mayor has recently refused to return to politics and in her latest public statements she expressly mentioned her support for Rita Maestre and Mónica García, from Más Madrid.
