The Prosecutor’s Office opens an investigation for the racist chants in the Metropolitan against Vinicius

The Madrid Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the racist chants that were heard both in the surroundings and inside the Cívitas Metropolitano against the Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior last Sunday in the football match between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, have reported tax sources.

In the proceedings opened as a result of a complaint filed by the Movement against Intolerance, the Prosecutor’s Office demands that the Police analyze the recordings of these events in order to identify the people who used racist insults.

In your case, you request to be informed about whether these people have any kind of relationship with violent groups or movements of extremist ideology or if, also, they were identified in another series of incidents or infractions of a similar nature.

At the same time, he asks the Police to verify if more episodes of racist overtones against a certain Real Madrid player were repeated inside the stadium.


Likewise, it requests information from the security services of Atlético de Madrid that could help clarify the facts, as well as the arbitration record of the match.

In principle, the Prosecutor’s Office tries to determine if a crime related to the exercise of fundamental rights and public freedoms has been committed.
