The Pope has asked this Wednesday a “special prayer” by Benedict XVI. As he has said, he “is very sick” and his health conditions would be extremely weak.
“He is very sick. Let us ask God to comfort him and sustain him in his testimony of love for the church to the end“, the pontiff pointed out during the general audience. Francis also pointed out that Benedict XVI “in silence sustains the Church.”
German Joseph Ratzinger, 96, resigned from the pontificate in February 2013 and since then he has lived in the Mater Ecclesiae convent in Vatican City.
His health is very fragile, but his mind still works very well, as his personal secretary Georg Gänswein has explained in various statements.
