The Minister of Justice, Pilar Llophas revealed that he has had a conversation with the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, after finishing the opening ceremony of the judicial year this Wednesday, in which I have asked him to “tomorrow” put the names of the candidates on the table and PP candidates for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
In statements to the media after the opening ceremony of the judicial year, Llop has made it clear that he has not received any response from Feijóo, whom he has also asked to give the names “without conditions, as requested by President Lesmes, who has said that the Constitution must be fulfilled without conditions”.
Llop has referred to the speech by Carlos Lesmes, president of the CGPJ, at the opening of the judicial year, a harsh speech after which he has made it clear that he will resign if the CGPJ is not renewed.
About the announcement that Lesmes made in groups with journalists after his speech and in which he pointed out that he is willing to resign in the coming weeks if the Council is not urgently renewed, for which he has asked Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo to meet immediately, the minister has said that this situation would be “absolutely scandalous and would be due exclusively to the PP, which would cause President Lesmes to adopt this solution, which is personal. We hope that this does not have to happen”.
Llop has stated that “all the responsibility of the PP cannot be discharged on President Lesmes, forcing him, forcing him to adopt a decision, such as the one announced today, such as his resignation”
“The situation is extremely serious. Trials are being delayed, we are spending a lot of money on reinforcements for the Supreme Court, it is an unsustainable situation,” said the minister, who has insisted that she hopes that tomorrow the PP will give the names for Council renewal.
