The Government will introduce the right to academic unemployment in the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU). The Executive intends to approve the rule in 2023 and, thus, recognize a “historic claim” of the student group.
Therefore, all universities must establish protocols that allow Student Councils paralyze academic activitywithout this affecting the right to teaching and assessment of students.
From the Ministry of Universities they have pointed out to the agency Eph that “the LOSU has been configured as a tool to broaden the rights of the university community in general throughout its text and of the student body in this particular case”.

In addition, they have indicated that “it will not be penalizable absence from class and that they will not be able to take new tests or prevent this strike”. “We will continue working to improve the University and the life of the student bodyday by day”, they have remarked.
“This advance represents the achievement of a historical vindication of student representation that, through its recognition in the law, shields the right to protest and makes it impossible for the student body suffer any academic consequences therefore”, they have explained. According to CREUP and CEUNE, the text must continue advancing in student participation and representation, which “consolidates its position as a fundamental part of the University”.
