The Government closes ranks with Yolanda Díaz, who defends the Executive’s management since the beginning of the pandemic

The full Government has closed ranks with the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, regarding the controversy caused by some statements by Díaz in which she indicated that when she presented the labor prevention guide to Covid-19 on March 4, 2020 was labeled as alarmist, mainly by the CEOE and Cepyme.

Said statements have been interpreted by the opposition as a criticism of the Government itself and a commission of inquiry has even been requested in Congress, but in the Government it is considered a “completely artificial controversy”, as he said this Friday at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, Yolanda Díaz herself.

“It is a great artificial controversy. It was at the time, they had requested two appearances, mine and Carmen Calvo (the then first vice president, now outside the Executive), when the PP called the Government alarmist. As you know, the PP ended withdrawing that request. Today he is doing the same, generating a great artificial controversy, “said the vice president.

Díaz: “An exemplary management has been carried out since the beginning of the pandemic despite the difficulties”

To make it clearer, Díaz assured that his opinion is that the Government “has made an exemplary effort from the beginning of the pandemic despite all the difficulties.” And he added: “What I keep is the example of pandemic management and vaccination.”

Díaz recalled that PP and Vox were precisely the first to accuse the Government of being alarmist at the beginning of the pandemic when she presented the prevention guide, “and, as now, they want to generate a completely artificial controversy,” he said.

The Minister Spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, supported his colleague in the Government, did not make the slightest reproach to these statements, and confirmed that “all” the Government “did was to be at the forefront of our country in this problem and give a response based on science, the experts and the health authorities, “he said.

Rodríguez also stressed that the work done by the Government in the face of the pandemic is almost indisputable, and recalled that it is being set as an example even by the United Nations.

Executive sources also indicated that Díaz’s statements in the interview on the Radiocable.com program have been misinterpreted and manipulated and that there is no internal conflict within the Government due to his words.
