The G7 agrees a cap of 60 euros per barrel of Russian oil, in line with the EU decision

The club of industrialized nations G7 Y Australia agreed on Friday a cap of 60 euros per barrel of Russian oil transported by sea, in line with the decision of the countries of the European Union (EU).

With this decision, the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Germany -which holds the presidency- intend to prevent Russia “benefit from its aggressive war against Ukraine,” they announced in a statement.

In addition, the measure aims to “support the stability in global energy markets and minimize the economic effects of the Russian war of aggression, especially for low- and middle-income countries.”
