The AWS re: Invent 2021 congress places the present and future of companies in the cloud after the pandemic

MADRID, Dec. 3 (Portaltic / EP) –

This week the AWS re: Invent 2021 annual conference, in which Amazon Web Services (AWS) announces its new products and services, while sharing some success stories from customers around the world. How could it be otherwise, the cloud has been the protagonist And the powerful ones point to solutions based on this technology as the way forward for companies in a new context of digitization still marked by the pandemic.

Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services, has been in charge of making some of the main announcements during his Keynote on the opening day of the congress. Thus, he has announced AWS Mainframe Modernization, a new service that “accelerates and makes it easier for customers to migrate their mainframe and legacy workloads to the cloud“and, in this way, enjoy” greater agility, elasticity and cost savings “.

The 5G connection is also called to revolutionize the operations of companies, speeding up processes and making them more efficient. In this context, the company has announced AWS Private 5G, a managed service that helps companies set up and scale private 5G mobile networks on their premises in just a few days.

With just a few clicks on the console customers specify where they want to build the mobile network and the network capacity they need for their devices, and AWS automates network setup and startup. It also scales capacity on demand to support additional devices and increased network traffic. Thus, customers only pay for the network capacity and speed they request.

On the other hand, Selipsky has referred to AWS IoT TwinMaker, a new service for developers that accelerates and simplifies the creation of digital twins of real-world systems such as buildings, factories, equipment, and production lines. Digital twins are virtual representations of physical systems that are regularly updated with real-world data to replicate the structure, state, and behavior of the objects they represent. These are some of the novelties presented during the congress.

These sessions have also served to learn about some of the most notable success stories in the use of the AWS cloud. It is the case of Roche Group, which is using this service for most of its cloud workloads, extracting more value from its health data. The company uses AWS capabilities in high performance, compute, analytics, machine learning, databases, storage, and security to accelerate drug discovery and development, and process health data at scale to deliver tailored care, with appropriate quality and privacy measures.

United Airlines also draws on AWS cloud services, which supports the airline’s digital innovation by providing machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), analytics, databases, computing, storage and security capabilities to advance United’s efforts to transform the customer journey through digital technology. Something key in a sector so battered by the pandemic.

In early 2022, Nasdaq also plans to migrate its North American markets to AWS in a phased approach starting with Nasdaq MRX, a US options market. Nasdaq will use a new Edge Computing solution designed jointly by Nasdaq and AWS and developed specifically for marketplaces infrastructure.

In addition, the collaboration will include opportunities to explore new ways to leverage AWS cloud capabilities in Nasdaq’s financial crime, data and analytics software solutions, and market infrastructure.

Within the framework of this international event, AWS has organized a virtual press conference for the Spanish media with Carlos Carús, AWS Technology Manager for Southern Europe, which has taken stock of the event and has influenced the interest of customers to develop cloud technologies. “We intend to break down the barriers to accessing technological tools so that companies can be more competitive in the coming years.“, he has added.

Carús has taken the occasion to remember the efforts that the American multinational is making in Spain. Specifically, he referred to the announcement of the creation of a new infrastructure region in Spain, made up of three availability zones, which will be located in Aragon and that it will have an investment of 2,500 million investment and will create 1,300 jobs to serve local customers and reduce latency in your operations.

In the same way, he has emphasized the potential of Spain within the company’s sustainability strategy. These clean energy projects will be located in Aragon, Madrid, Andalusia, Castilla la Mancha and Extremadura, and added to those already underway, they will make a total of eight operational facilities. In this way, the company aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its activities in Spain.
