The Ukrainian Armed Forces have estimated this Friday at about 25,000 the total number of Russian soldiers killed in combat since the beginning of the invasion on February 24, a figure much higher than that recognized by Russia.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has indicated in a message on its account on the social network Facebook that “about 24,900” Russian soldiers have died during the hostilities and has added that 1,1104 battle tanks, 502 artillery systems and 171 multiple self-propelled and armored rocket launchers.
Likewise, it has highlighted that 83 anti-aircraft defense systems, 199 planes, 155 helicopters, 1,927 vehicles and fuel tanks, eleven boats and 324 drones have also been destroyed, while 90 cruise missiles have been shot down.
On the other hand, he has assured that about 300 Russian soldiers wounded in combat have been admitted to the hospital in the city of Kupiansk, in the Kharkov region, without giving details about when they were hospitalized.
Likewise, he has indicated that, in the separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, Russia “does not stop the offensive trying to establish total control over the territory.” In this regard, in the Donetsk region, Russian troops “are shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops in the Liman direction.”
In this sense, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has denounced that the Russian troops continue their offensive in the city of Mariúpol in the area of the Azovstal steel mill. “In some areas, with the support of aviation, assault operations have been resumed to take control of the plant,” the statement said.
Finally, he pointed out that the Russian Army has opened fire on settlements in Kherson and Mikolaiv, adding in the same statement that Russian troops “continue firing artillery at residential areas and suburbs of Kharkov.”
