The Argentine Police has registered this Friday the address of the assailant of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Paternal, from which they have left with “written and recorded information”, according to witnesses.
The attacker has been identified as Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel, 35 years old and of Brazilian origin. On the door of the home they had hung a sign that read ‘This is not Fernando’s house’ in order to prevent attacks, according to various sources told the newspaper ‘Página 12’.
Montiel has a criminal record for possession of an unconventional weapon, after in March 2021 he was intercepted by the Police aboard an uninsured car, an incident for which the Prosecutor’s Office had to intervene, although the case was finally filed. During that search, the agents found a 35-centimeter knife.
A review of his social networks, which have already been closed, shows that he was a follower of hate groups, as well as pages in defense of “Masonic orders” or pagan religions, according to the Argentine media. In turn, a photo of him has been published in which he can be seen tattooed on one of his elbows the black sun, a symbol linked to Nazi occultism.
The Argentine press has also recalled a couple of recent interventions by the attacker on the country’s television, in which he attacks the political class on the street and links crime and social aid with the migrant population.
“The people who come from abroad to occupy a villa and live for free and live on plans without working and sell drugs should be extradited,” he argued in one of these comments on Argentine television.
The attack against Vice President Fernández de Kirchner occurred this Thursday around 9:00 p.m. local time, when she was returning to her home in the Recoleta neighborhood, in the city of Buenos Aires, after a session in the Senate.
In the midst of a group of people who had come to show their support for the recent accusation by the Prosecutor’s Office, Montiel stood out from the crowd and fired a 40-caliber pistol – which was later found to be loaded with five bullets – but did not fire. . He was quickly neutralized and detained by the Police.
