The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office interrogates Tomás Díaz Ayuso for his role in the purchase of masks for Madrid

Tomas Diaz Ayuso declared before the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on April 6 due to the sale of masks to the Community of Madrid. According to Cadena SER, during the confrontation, the brother of the president of the Community of Madrid emphasized that all the negotiations were carried out in accordance with the law.

In addition, he also wanted to indicate during the interrogation that his sister did not intervene in the negotiations that took place. Tomás Díaz Ayuso added that his sister was not aware of the contracts.

Let us remember that the Community of Madrid made public at the end of February that the brother of Isabel Díaz Ayuso had carried out intermediation work for which he received the not insignificant figure of 283,000 euros in four payments, despite the fact that only one of those payments –which reached the amount of 55,850 euros – corresponds to the contract that is now being investigated by the Public Ministry.

In parallel, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office has also taken a statement from businessman Daniel Alcázar, head of the company Priviet Sportive SL, a company that was in charge of bringing these orders to Spain with medical supplies to deal with the onslaught of the coronavirus.

During the last few weeks, the Community of Madrid has been providing – at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office – the documentation that has been required concerning the contract in question. In addition, the regional government has also provided a report from the Chamber of Accounts in which the 4,448 emergency contracts signed by the Community of Madrid are reviewed.
