US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken took shelter with members of the Israeli “war cabinet” led by Benjamin Netanyahu inside a fortified room while sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, according to Hebrew media.
Earlier on Monday evening, sirens sounded for the third time in areas of central Israel, including Tel Aviv, after rocket salvoes were fired from the Gaza Strip.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken for the second time since the outbreak of the war.”
She added: “The two participated in the discussion in the war cabinet, in addition to Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, (former Defense Minister) Benny Gantz, (former Chief of Staff) Gadi Eisenkot, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and Knesset member Aryeh Deri.”
According to the newspaper, at the beginning of the meeting held at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv, sirens sounded in the city, forcing Blinken, Netanyahu, and the rest of the Israeli officials to take shelter in a fortified room.
For its part, Israeli Army Radio (Gali Tsahal) said that the Hamas movement is trying to achieve “propaganda achievements” on the tenth day of the war.
She added: “Hamas fired rockets at Jerusalem while the Knesset General Assembly was in session to evacuate Knesset members to the fortified rooms.”
She continued: “Missiles were fired at Tel Aviv during the time the war cabin was in session, to bring US Secretary of State Blinken into the fortified room.”
Earlier Monday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Tel Aviv for the second time in 5 days, coinciding with the ongoing Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip since October 7.
