Spain will have eleven boats in the European Championships in Munich

A total of eleven Spanish boats will participate in the European Rowing Championships in Munich (Germany), which will be held between August 11 and 21, of which two will compete in the Paralympic category, with a total of 22 athletes competing in waters bavarian

Munich will host the European Rowing Championships in twelve different disciplines, both Olympic and Paralympic. The rowing events, which will be held at the Munich Olympic Regatta Center, will take place between August 11 and 14, with the classifications being held on the 11th and 12th and the finals on the 13th and 14th.

Spain attends with eleven boats, nine Olympic rowing, five men’s and four women’s, and two Paralympic boats, which will occupy a total of 22 athletes.

In the men’s boats will be the two boats that were silver in the first World Cup of the year, in light double sculls (LM2x) the Olympians Caetano Horta and Manel Belastegui, and in two without (M2-) Jaime Canalejo and Javier García.

In addition, Rodrigo Conde and Aleix García, who won bronze in the first and third editions of the World Cup, will participate in double sculls (M2x), and in skiff will be Jordi Jofre in heavyweight and Daniel Gutiérrez in lightweight (LM1x).

The female representation will be led by the two-time Olympian Aina Cid, who is participating in the 4- along with Julia Ros, María Fernanda Valencia and Nuria Puig. There will also be the Olympic diploma Virginia Díaz, who competes in heavy skiff (W1x), Natalia de Miguel in light skiff (LW1x) and the couple formed by Rocío Lao and Ana Navarro in light double scull (LW2X).

The head coach of the Spanish Rowing Federation, Daniel Rodríguez, was optimistic about the event. “For our Paralympians, it is the first international event of the season, but they have a good dynamic of training and evolution in rowing. As for the rest, they have worked very well during the year and in the World Cups the results have been positive , we hope that everything that has been done to date will be reflected in the European,” he declared.

The Paralympic boats will be the same ones that attended the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, and Javier Reja, a Games diploma, will compete in them in PR1 M1x, and Enrique Floriano, Verónica Rodríguez, Josefa Benítez, Jorge Pineda and the helmsman Leonor García in PR3 Mix4.
