Spain, qualified for the 2023 World Cup

The Spanish men’s basketball team has mathematically qualified for the 2023 World Cup in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, in what will be their eleventh consecutive participation in a World Cup event, after Georgia’s defeat against Italy (84-85) in the ‘ European windows.

The current European champion, who put her pass on track with a victory in extra time against the Italian team last Friday (84-88), confirmed her ticket on Monday before playing her match against the Netherlands at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace in Huelva.

In this way, Sergio Scariolo’s men will try to defend the crown won in 2019 in the Asian tournament. For their part, Italy also guaranteed their World Cup presence by surprising the Georgians at home and momentarily positioning themselves as the leader of Group L.
