South Korea fires multiple cruise and ballistic missiles in response to North Korea’s launch

South Korean authorities fired several cruise and ballistic missiles into the Sea of ​​Japan, also known as the East Sea, on Thursday in response to North Korea launching a possible intercontinental missile hours earlier.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea has indicated that around 4:25 p.m. there has been the launch of a Hyunmoo II surface-to-surface missile, a short-range tactical missile and a Haesong II missile, among others, according to information from the news agency Yonhap.

“We have confirmed that our military has the capability and readiness to accurately strike any missile launch sites and (corresponding) command and support facilities in North Korea,” the entity said.

In addition, he has indicated that they have set up several monitoring and surveillance teams for future launches by the North Korean Army and have said they are prepared for any type of “activity in collaboration with the United States.”

South Korea held an emergency meeting of the Security Council on Sunday to discuss preventive measures after North Korea launched four projectiles into the Sea of ​​Japan.

“We have had a meeting on short-range projectiles launched by North Korea to closely discuss the detailed specifications in close cooperation with the United States,” Presidential spokeswoman Park Kyung Mi explained at the time.
