Audeze, based in Santa Ana, Calif., will continue to operate independently and build products for other platforms and will benefit from being part of the PlayStation ecosystem, Sony said in a statement on Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Best known for the expensive headphones used by professionals and music enthusiasts, Audeze has branched out in recent years into gaming and a technology known as “spatial audio”, giving users a more immersive audio experience. It sells a $299 Maxwell wireless headset for gaming, with versions designed specifically for Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox consoles.
