Russia announces a series of military exercises in January and February in the face of increased tension with Ukraine

The Russian Army announced this Thursday that it plans to carry out a series of military maneuvers in areas of the Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea during the last weeks of January and the month of February.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated in a statement that for this it will count on the deployment of some 140 warships, some 60 aircraft and more than 10,000 troops, who will carry out different exercises in full increase in tension over the Ukrainian issue, according to the news agency interface.

The maneuvers are expected to last until the end of February. “The exercises will cover areas adjacent to Russian territory, as well as important areas in the sea,” the Ministry said.

The objective is to launch training tasks that allow “protect the interests of Russia and defend the country from military threats” in the sea, pick up the text. On the other hand, the country will carry out joint maneuvers with Iran and China in the Gulf of Oman, an exercise that will last until this Saturday.
