Russia accuses Ukraine of trying to take back Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

MADRID, Sep. 3 (.) –

The Russian Government has assured this Saturday that the Ukrainian forces have tried to regain control of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, controlled by Russian troops since the beginning of March, by force this morning.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has denounced an amphibious attack on the facilities although a spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, has explained that the assault was repelled, according to the Interfax news agency. Moscow puts the death toll on the Ukrainian side at 47.

Moscow and kyiv constantly reproach each other for the alleged activity of both sides in the areas surrounding the Zaporizhia plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed this week evidence of attacks on the facilities.
