MADRID, 12 Jan. (.) –
The national handball coach, Jordi Ribera, recalled that Spain has eight players making their debut in a World Cup starting this Thursday in Poland, after beating Montenegro in a debut that they knew would be “complicated” and that awarded “two important points”.
“The first game is always difficult. Montenegro had just played a very high-level European tournament, a group that is growing. We knew it was going to be a difficult game. We have eight rookies in a World Cup, it shows even though later on the field they have a great performance despite being his debut”, he said in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM).
The coach of the ‘Hispanics’ reviewed the moments that marked a tight start to the end. “Gonzalo has given us stability, it has been difficult for us to give rhythm, we have recovered with the defensive change and we have run and scored on the counter. In the second half we lacked goals at the beginning. Simic has been very good, with balls that would have given us given air and more tranquility”, he pointed out.
“We have solved the first game, there are two points that were very important to begin with, and now to prepare the next one,” he finished, already thinking about the duel against Chile on Saturday, the second day of Group A in search of a place in the ‘ Main Round’.
