Paula Badosa gets into the semifinals of the Adelaide 2 tournament

MADRID, 12 Jan. (.) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa qualified this Thursday for the semifinals of the Adelaide 2 tournament (Australia), scoring for the WTA and which is played on a hard court, after beating the Brazilian Beatriz Hadda Maia 7-6(5), 7 -5 in a tough match.

The Catalan player thus maintains her good start to the 2023 season where she has won all four of her matches, one in the United Cup and three in this event, where she has not yet dropped a set and where she will seek a place in the final against the Russian Daria Kasatkina, precisely the rival who defeated her in the last semifinals (San José) that she had reached.

The ninth favorite had to fight a tough battle with the South American player, which lasted for two and a half hours after two sleeves that took more than an hour each to decide on the side of the Spanish who dominated the first where she had a serve with 5-3 to win it.

However, the Brazilian, eleventh seed, knew how to save the situation and recover the break from the sixth game to equalize a set that was decided in a tie-break where Badosa dominated 6/2, but still had to suffer to win it (7/5).

The second set was much more even and the Spaniard was penalized for not taking advantage of her ‘break’ options, although she also had to save delicate moments at the start. Then, the Catalan wasted four breaking points at 4-4, but she did not lose her cool and achieved the long-awaited break on the next serve to already sentence her pass to the penultimate round.
