The film got a good opening with the buzz created from before. But, due to the mixed response from the audience on the first day, it was thought that the film will lag behind in terms of collections. Although the collections decreased from the second day, it did not affect the overall collection. That’s why this movie broke even within five days. It collected Rs.28.90 crore gross in five days worldwide. ‘Spy’ is the fastest break-even film in Nikhil’s career.
However, hero Nikhil reacted to the fact that the film could not be released on a pan-India level. He apologized to the audience in other languages who loved him. An open letter has been posted on social media to this effect.
I sincerely thank everyone for crowding the theaters where the movie ‘Hello..’Spy’ was shown, and for giving me the highest opening at the box office in my career. I am very happy to know how much faith you all have in me through this film. On the other hand, it is sad to say that the film could not be released in multiple languages across the country. The film was not released in various languages due to contractual and content delay issues. Moreover, due to this, 350 Telugu premiere shows were also canceled overseas.
Apologies to Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam audience in this regard. I promise that my three films coming after Karthikeya 2 will be completed in all languages and released on time. I give my word to every Telugu movie lover who has faith in me.. We will make movies without any compromise on quality. No matter what the pressures are, we will bring you a well-executed and well-researched excellent film,’ wrote Nikhil Siddharth in his open letter.
