MADRID, Dec. 5 (.) –
The forward of the Brazilian team Neymar Jr confessed that he was “very afraid” after suffering an ankle injury during the first match against Serbia of the World Cup in Qatar and that he was “crying” all night, although he celebrated that all “the suffering” that he had to go through since then in order to recover has had a happy ending with his return this Monday in the round of 16 against South Korea.
“I was very scared. I was doing very well, I was having a very good season and suffering from an injury like the one I suffered, I spent the night crying a lot. My family knows it, but everything went well,” Neymar said after the game against Korea South in statements collected by ‘ESPN Brasil’.
The Paris Saint-Germain player is clear that “it was worth the effort” he had to make to recover. “I think that all the suffering now is valid so that in the end we can crown something so beautiful that it will happen,” he wished.
On the other hand, the former FC Barcelona player referred to Brazil’s options in Qatar. “The time has come to go further. We dream of the title, obviously, but we have to go step by step. Today was the fourth game, we have three left and we are very prepared, with our minds very focused on getting this title” , he remarked.
Finally, on a day where he scored to stay within one of Pelé’s record and to equal ‘O Rei’ and Ronaldo Nazario as the only ones to score in three World Cups, he sent a message of encouragement to the legend of his country.
“It’s difficult to talk about what Pelé is going through, but I wish him the best, that he recovers his health as soon as possible and that he can at least be comfortable today with the victory. For me, reaching these records is a great pride, I already achieved things that never would have imagined to achieve. I am very content and happy”, sentenced.
