Netherlands declares strict containment and closure of non-essential activity

The Dutch Government declared this Saturday, after an emergency meeting due to the advance of the omicron variant, a strict confinement in Netherlands that comes into force this Sunday and remains until January 14, whereby it closes off all non-essential activity, but also colleges and universities.

At a press conference in The Hague, the acting Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, explained that they will only remain the essential shops open, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations and the minimum servicesBut everything else, including shops, restaurants, cinemas, theaters or gyms, will have to close their doors for almost a month.

In addition, a maximum of two guests per household per day, but there will be an exception of four visitors per home during Christmas Eve, Christmas and San Esteban (December 26) and New Years Eve.
