Mozilla Introduces a Community That Will Build an Open Source, “Trusted and Independent” AI Ecosystem

MADRID, March 24 (Portaltic/EP) –

Mozilla has announced the birth of Mozilla.ai, a ‘startup’ and community that aims to build an open source artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem”trustworthy and independent.

The company is aware that this technology is being “one of the most important stories of the year” and has compared its popularity with that of Netscap in 1994 and iPhone in 2007, as stated in a statement.

Due to the rise of AI, Mozilla has thought about What are the limits that can be crossed? and how users can benefit from it, questions that arise from “two decades of social networks and smartphones whose consequences” have made users wary.

In order to outline a vision for trusted AI, the company has mobilized its community to document what doesn’t work and invest in companies that are working to create more responsible technology.

Likewise, he considers that the inflection point in which AI is currently “offers a real opportunity to develop technology with different values, new incentives and a better ownership model” and, for this, it has created the Mozilla.ai community.

It is a ‘startup’ that will be in charge of building an ecosystem of artificial intelligence in “reliable and independent” open source and for which it will make an initial investment of 30 million dollars (about 28 million euros).

His goal with this project is to create tools that make generative AI -which has become popular with applications such as ChatGPT and DALL-E- “more secure and transparent”, as well as user-focused recommendation systems. Don’t spread misinformation.
