MADRID, 24 Nov. (Portaltic/EP) –

MicrosoftSony’s main rival in the video game area, knows when the next generation playstationdespite the fact that only two years ago the PS5 began to be sold worldwide, a date that would condition the availability of Activison Blizzard games.

PlayStation 5 hit the market at the end of 2020first only through ‘online’ stores due to the context in which it was launched, with the physical distance restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, which also had an impact on the availability of said video console.

Sony, like other video game hardware companies like Microsoft and Nintendo, plans to a life cycle of the current console, and the possible arrival of the next generation. In the case of PlayStion 6, its launch would be considered around 2027.

This year it has been shared by Sony in its response to the Competition Markets Authority of the United Kingdom, which is investigating the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, and which has shared the industry analyst Piers Harding-Rolls on his Twitter account.

Specifically, this document states that “Microsoft has offered to keep the availability of Activision games on PlayStation only until 2027. […]A period until 2027 – or another time (possibly shorter) that Microsoft unilaterally determines “makes sense” for Microsoft – is highly inappropriate. By the time SIE releases the next generation of its PlayStation console (which is likely to be around []), would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles, making it extremely vulnerable to consumer switching and the consequent degradation of its competitiveness.”

Following the life cycle of the previous Sony consoles, of about six years, the relay for the current PS5 should arrive in 2026 or 2027in line with Microsoft’s offer to keep Activision games on this console, especially Call of Duty.
