Medvedev will be between one and two months off due to a hernia

MADRID, 2 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, number two in the world, announced this Saturday that he suffers from “a small hernia” that will force him to undergo an operation, in addition to reporting that he will be between one and two months off to recover from the intervention.

“The last few months I have been playing with a small hernia. Together with my team, I have decided to do a small procedure to fix the problem. I will probably be out for the next one or two months and will work hard to get back on court soon. Thank you for all the support,” he confirmed on his official Twitter account.

Medvedev fell on Thursday against Pole Hubert Hurkacz (7-6(7), 6-3) in the quarterfinals of the Miami Masters 1,000, a defeat that prevented him from snatching the world number one from Serbian Novak Djokovic.

The Russian tennis player will miss the start of the clay court season on the ATP circuit, and could even jeopardize his participation in the only ‘big’ on clay, Roland Garros, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the course.
