To curb the impact of the devaluation, Economy Minister Sergio Massa announced a price agreement with 5% increases per month until October 31 for drug prices.
So the drugs add up to the agreement with supermarkets and wholesalers and oil companies.
In a press conference together with the laboratory representatives, Massa stated: “I want to thank the national and cooperative laboratories of Argentina that represent the vast majority of medicines. They are a national industry and generate Argentine work”
“Thank you for the good disposition. A negotiation in which we quickly agreed and I appreciate that Argentine companies at a particular moment in the country think of the people, as we do, and help us move this towards a better moment in Argentina”, he added.
The Government announced a 90-day price agreement with supermarkets and wholesalers
Besides, Massa remarked that Argentina had to devalue its currency due to the imposition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“It is a shared effort that laboratories make, yielding their profitability and the State so that it does not move into the pocket of the people,” concluded the head of the Palacio de Hacienda
The meeting was attended by Guillermo Michel, in charge of the Negotiation Unit for price agreements; the Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini; Eduardo Macchiavello, CEO of Roemmers; Gustavo Pellizzari, CEO of ELEA; Edgardo Vázquez, CEO of BAGO; Alfredo Weber, CEO GADOR; Eduardo Franciosi, CILFA Executive Director; Leonardo Fernández, Vice President and General Manager of Bioprofarma Bago; and Juan José Marconi, Cooperala Executive Director.
