MADRID, Sep. 6 (Portaltic/EP) –
Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Masayasu Itohas announced that he will leave the Japanese company after 36 years in which he has participated, among other projects, in the design of hardware for PSPPlaystation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5).
The current deputy president of the company, Lin Taowill be in charge of replacing Ito starting next October 1, as reported by Sony in a statement published on its website.
Ito joined the company in 1986 to participate in the development of car audio equipment, as the specialized portal Engadget has recalled. Later, Sony transferred him to the console division in 2000.
Since then, Ito has been part of projects such as the PSP portable console, in addition to leading the engineering of the PS4 and PS5 desktop computers, until his appointment as executive vice president and representative director of SIE, position he currently holds.
The Japanese company has not specified in its statement the reason for Ito’s departure. However, Sony has confirmed to Bloomberg that the manager is planning to retire.
