MADRID, Feb. 14 (.) –
Spanish skiers Javier Lliso and Thibault Magnin face this Tuesday the freestyle ski slopestyle qualifying at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, a modality in which they aspire to be among the top 12 to advance to the final.
The snowfalls in Chinese lands have postponed one day, from Monday to Tuesday, the participation of the man from Madrid and the man from Freiburg in their second test in the Olympic event, after having opposite luck in the ‘big air’, where the first managed to advance to the final and win a fantastic Olympic diploma.
Lliso, 24, achieved a brilliant sixth place in the fight for the medals at the Big Air Shougang Stadium, and hopes to confirm this Monday his good work in a modality -‘slopestyle’- where he achieved the best position of his career, fourth, at the Seiser Alm World Cup (Italy) in January 2020.
Meanwhile, Magnin, 21, failed to reach the final. The young athlete returned to competition in January after a knee injury and has already made two ‘Top 10’ finishes in the Slopestyle World Cup, with seventh place in Font Romeu.
The two ‘freeskiers’ face from 5.30 Spanish peninsular time the first of the two tasks that must be played. The best 12 will advance to the final on Wednesday (2:30 Spanish time), which will take place over three heats.
