MADRID, July 13 (.) –
The footballer of the Spanish team Leila Ouahabi asked the fans on Wednesday not to give them “for dead” in the European Championship after falling (2-0) in the second group stage match against Germany, a result that forces at least draw against Denmark to be in the quarterfinals, for which he asked to “turn the page”, to be “more efficient” and to make “the fewest possible mistakes”.
“There is always criticism, but that people do not give us up for dead, we trust ourselves a lot. We are going to move forward, that people support us, that will make us strong,” the winger demanded at a press conference.
The Manchester City player acknowledged that the team was “fucked” after the heavy defeat, an “unexpected” result. However, Ouahabi took the opportunity to support the goalkeeper of the national team Sandra Paños, since an error of hers in the exit of the ball led to the second and definitive goal of the Germans this Tuesday.
“She is a goalkeeper, we fully trust her, we are a pineapple, now we have to forget what happened. We are self-critical, we know that these mistakes penalize a lot, but we have to be positive. Don’t let them happen again because they condition and penalize”, he asserted forcefully.
“WE WILL TAKE IT AHEAD BEING SPAIN”
In addition, after insisting that against Germany “we did not suffer defensively”, he urged to be “effective in attack”, since in a European Championship the matches are decided by “details”. “We are still the same. In a European Championship you compete against teams of the highest level. We have to think about taking our game, try to feel strong again, believe in ourselves and be as positive as possible. This team has a lot of potential, we have to move it forward. We face the game with the maximum demand,” he added.
“People talk and talk, we will support each other, let them think what they want, we are going to support each other. We have to be a group and move it forward,” he valued the criticism received, while asking to focus on the “points strengths” of the national team to “get ahead” of the situation “being Spain”.
Thus, he assured that they will be “very concentrated” this Saturday against Denmark, in a match in which their presence in the quarterfinals of the tournament will be played. “The whole group trusts all of us, we have to turn the page and focus on the match against Denmark”, settled Ouahabi, who admitted that they “will fight” for those who have not been able to be in the European Championship, such as the injured Alexia Putellas and Jenni Hermoso , in addition to Virginia Torrecilla.
