MADRID, 17 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The far-right candidate for the French Presidency, Marine Le Pen, has rejected that she is “climate-sceptic” as her rival in the second presidential round next Sunday, Emmanuel Macron, described her on Saturday, and has stressed that when she governs she will not remove France of the Paris Agreement to combat climate change.
“Climatosceptic. It is the typical example of an anathema that is not based on anything. From the moment he entered the campaign, (Macron) made the decision to do it on the anathema, in the insult towards me. I think it is to hide the emptiness of his project,” Le Pen said in statements to the France 3 network.
Thus, Le Pen has stressed that “it would not abandon the Paris Agreement” and has highlighted that its program includes measures to protect the environment.
On Saturday, Macron called Le Pen “incompetent” and “climate skeptical”. “She says that she is with us in carbon neutrality by 2050, but she also advances it to 2030, she knows her figures so well… Even incompetent, she is a climate skeptic,” she pointed out.
