BARCELONA, Aug. 13 (.) –
The Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso will be part of the UAE Team Emirates team to compete in the Tour of Spain, which will be held between August 19 and September 11, 2022, for which he will make his debut in a three-week race at his 19 years old, accompanied by his compatriot Marc Soler and led by the Portuguese Joao Almeida, with the main casualty being the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
The squad presented this Saturday its eight riders managed by the team manager, Matxin Fernández, to compete in the third Grand Tour of the season. The chosen ones are Pascal Ackermann, Joao Almeida, Juan Ayuso, Brandon McNulty, Sebastian Molano, Ivo Oliveira, Jan Polanc and Marc Soler.
The team goes to the race with a dynamic team that will try to be the protagonist in multiple terrains, with Joao Almeida able to put on a great show and Pascal Ackermann leading the line in the sprints.
“It is my first Vuelta and I am very excited to start. The last few months have not been easy and my condition has not been 100%. The Vuelta a Burgos finished on a high note and it was a good confidence boost to take the victory on the last day. I felt as if I had ridden that race,” Almeida said.
“I feel good on the bike again and with a strong team I think we can do very nice things in this race. It is difficult to say what can be expected, but I think the objectives can be clearer as the race progresses. It will be a long way from Utrecht to Madrid, but I’m really looking forward to the challenge,” he added.
The race will start from Utrecht, in the Netherlands, on August 19, before heading to the south of Spain and finishing in Madrid on September 11, covering a distance of 3,280 kilometres.
