Japan to expel eight Russian diplomats in response to Ukraine invasion

MADRID, 8 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Government of Japan announced this Friday that it will expel eight diplomats amid the international response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Foreign Ministry has stated that the decision has been transferred to the Russian ambassador in Tokyo, Mijail Galuzin, without for the time being there being a deadline for those affected to leave the country, according to the newspaper ‘Yomiuri Shimbun’.

Moscow has not commented on the announcement for now, although it has maintained at all times that it will respond to announcements from various countries about the imposition of sanctions and the expulsion of diplomats due to the war in Ukraine.
