Instagram allows you to directly share videos from third-party apps as reels with a new integration

MADRID, Oct. 13 (Portaltic/EP) –

Meta has opened up to all developers the tool that allows share videos on Instagram as ‘reels’ from third-party platforms, with the aim of integrating it into their applications.

The technology company has provided developers with the ‘Share Reels on Instagram’ tool, after starting its tests in November last year with a set of video applications, including Smule, Videoleap, Reface, VivaVideo, SNOW, B612, VITA and Zoomerang.

This Friday, the tool has been opened to all developers, which will allow its integration into third-party applications. In this way, users will be able to export a video from one of the external applications and share it as a ‘reel’ on the Meta social network, as the company states on its official blog.

From Meta they highlight that they have opted for the ‘reels’ for this integration because it is their “fastest growing content format“, and because with the new tool “people can easily share short-form videos […] where they can reach a broader audience.

When developers integrate this tool into their third-party applications, they will display a button that will allow users to share the videos directly to Instagram, avoiding having to download and upload them to the Meta platform.

By sharing them as ‘reels’, users will also be able to edit these videos with audio, stickers and effects, among other elements.
