MADRID, Dec. 12 (Portaltic/EP) –
Huawei and Oppo have announced an agreement patent cross license with a global reach that covers technologies such as 5G connectivity, WiFi or audio and video encoders.
The two China-based companies have recognized the value of each other’s intellectual property in a collaboration that will allow them to take advantage of the technologies developed and continue to innovate in the sector.
The collaboration materializes in a global patent cross-licensing agreement “where both parties win“, as Oppo’s director of Intellectual Property, Adler Feng, has stated in a joint statement.
For their part, Huawei understands that this agreement is “an important step to promote a positive cycle of innovation and research in high value standards[…]. This will allow our industry to continue to innovate and provide consumers with more competitive products and services,” said the head of the Intellectual Property department, Alan Fan.
The press release in which both companies announce the agreement does not provide further details on how this collaboration will materialize, but it does indicate that it involves technologies such as 5G connectivity, WiFi and audio and video codecs.
