Germany reports more than 190,000 cases in one day and borders on 9.5 million coronavirus infections

MADRID, Jan. 28 (.) –

The German authorities have notified this Friday more than 190,000 cases of coronavirus during the last day, the second highest figure to date, with which the country is already close to 9.5 million infections since the start of the pandemic.

The Robert Koch Institute, the government entity for the control of infectious diseases, has indicated through its website that during the last 24 hours 190,148 positives and 170 deaths have been registered, which places the totals at 9,429,079 and 117,484, respectively. .

The number of cases is only lower than that reported on Thursday, when the country exceeded the threshold of 200,000 infections in one day for the first time, amid a rebound mainly blamed on the spread of the omicron variant.

Likewise, the agency has stated that the accumulated incidence rate during the last seven days is 1,073 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 892,289 positives during the last week.

This data exceeded the threshold of 800 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for the first time on Sunday and on Wednesday it exceeded 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for the first time, after which on Thursday it exceeded 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in a clear trend up in recent days.

The Robert Koch Institute has also reported that there are currently about 1,817,300 active cases and has estimated the number of people recovered from COVID-19 at about 7,494,200, including around 50,900 medical discharges during the last 24 hours.
