Four participants in the NGO humanitarian assistance mission World Central Kitchenfounded by chef Jose Andreshave been injured as a result of an attack on a restaurant in the Ukrainian city of Járkov, which has also killed a person not affiliated with the organization, according to its director, Nate Mook.
Mook has denounced the attack, which occurred on Saturday, on social networks before indicating that none of the lives of the injured are in danger and will go to the hospital to visit them in the next few hours.
In a video, Mook blames Russia for the attack and specifies that it is a missile that hit the kitchen of a local restaurant that worked in association with the NGO and injured four staff members.
“This is the reality here: cooking is a heroic act of bravery,” Mook said in the video, where he appears in front of a destroyed building, surrounded by rubble and “a dozen” charred cars. “A tremendous amount of destruction for no reason“, he lamented.
World Central Kitchen is involved in a humanitarian operation to prepare meals for Ukrainians living in areas liberated from the Russian invasion, as well as at border crossings to countries west of Ukraine.
The chef himself has lamented the “massacre” caused by the bombing in a message posted on his Twitter account. “Russian attacks on civilian buildings, markets, churches, etc., must end“, he pointed out, after asking the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the opposition leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, a “bipartisan” response against the war. “The people of Ukraine deserve our respect and admiration “said the chef.
