Withdrawn from sale for several years, Essure contraceptive implants continue to be talked about because of legal proceedings launched in various countries. In Canada, the pharmaceutical giant Bayer is the subject of a class action. Complainants have denounced unbearable suffering and a number of adverse effects caused by the implant. But the Bayer company denies any link between the health problems and its product and says it wants to defend itself in court.
