Ferrovial announces the sale of its 25% stake in Heathrow for 2.7 billion euros

Ferrovial announced this Tuesday the sale of its 25% stake in Heathrow Airports Holdings, the company that manages that London airport, for 2.7 billion euros after having reached an agreement with Ardian and The Public Investment Fund (PIF), which would acquire Ferrovial’s participation is around 15% and 10% respectively, as reported by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The company states that the transaction is subject to compliance with the preferential acquisition and full accompanying rights that can be exercised by the other shareholders of FGP Topco in accordance with the shareholders’ agreement and the company’s bylaws.

Thus, Ferrovial would leave London airport after 17 years, when in 2006 it became a majority shareholder in Heathrow. “Over the last 17 years as investors, we have contributed to the transformation of Heathrow, together with the rest of the shareholders, achieving great achievements,” the statement states.
