Egyptians perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in a cheerful atmosphere drawn by children

On Monday, Egyptians performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in more than 600 squares attached to major mosques across the country.

Millions of Egyptians slept in mosques and courtyards in the capital, Cairo, and all 27 governorates to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers, in a festive atmosphere.

Prayers were held in all major mosques, and all women’s chapels were opened in mosques, amid a heavy presence of children, which added to the atmosphere of joy.

According to the official news agency, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Moshir Tantawi Mosque in the Fifth Settlement area, east of Cairo.

Hundreds of gaming areas opened in Cairo and throughout the country immediately after the Eid prayer, and witnessed a huge turnout of children in an atmosphere of joy.

And 21 Arab countries announced that Monday, May 2, is the first day of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1443 AH, according to monitoring by Anadolu Agency.
