Disney+ launches its basic ad-supported plan in the United States for $7.99 per month and with more than 100 advertisers

The streaming service for movies and series Disney+ he has thrown out this friday your basic plan with advertising in USA for a monthly fee of $7.99which has more than a hundred advertisers and that offers the complete content catalog for a cheaper subscription model.

Until now, Disney+ had only two subscription plans: monthly, with access to titles from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Star and National Geographic, whose price is 8.99 euros in Spain; and annual, which offers the service of these channels for a single payment of 89.90 euros.

However, as of this Friday, the company launches the Basic plan in the United States for 7.99 euros per month, which it will coexist with the Premium plan, whose price has risen to $10.99 per month (or $109.99 per year).

The kind of Disney+ Premium does not contain ads and, as before, it allows you to view the content in ‘streaming’ from different devices (mobiles, televisions, tablets, etc.) in up to four screens at the same time. It also offers support for creating up to seven different profilesas well as the possibility of downloading series or movies. Likewise, you can reproduce the contents in formats of high quality video (4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, Full HD, HDR10, where supported).

On the other hand, the new basic service includes these same features but with the interruption of ads during the reproduction of the offered titles. Also, subscribers who already have a Disney+ account will have the option to switch to the Basic plan. However, users who decide to continue with the Premium subscription will not have to make any changes to their account.

In addition to all this, the company has also added new packages in the basic plan. Specifically, it has included Disney Bundle Duo Basicwhich includes Disney+ and Hulu with ads by $9.99 per month; the Disney Bundle Trio Basicwhich offers access to Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ with ads by $12.99 per month; and the package from Hulu + Live TVwith which you can use Hulu and Live TV, plus access to Disney + and ESPN +, all with ads by $69.99 per month.

As Disney+ has stressed, the advertisers that support the new plan are “top-tier brands” and come from all the main holding agencies: Dentsu, Havas, Horizon, IPG, Omnicom Group, Publicis, RPA, Stagwell and WPP, among others. In this sense, it pursues the objective of represent more than a dozen categories with the participation of more than 100 advertisers, such as retail, apparel, auto, financial services, restaurants, technology, telecom, CPG, and travel.

“With these new ad-supported offers, we are able to offer a greater flexibility for consumers to enjoy the full breadth and depth of The Walt Disney Company’s incredible storytelling,” said Direct to Consumer President Michael Paull.

For her part, the president of Disney Advertising, Rita Ferro, has assured that from Disney+ they are committed to connecting with customers with “the best storytelling in the world”, while stating that the company provides “innovation and viewer experiences in streaming now and in the future“.

However, as was already known, the subscription to Disney + Basic they will not have access to some Premium functions, such as Downloads, GroupWatch and SharePlayas well as surround sound technology Dolby Atmos.

GroupWatch, is a function that is integrated into Disney + and that allows the Simultaneous viewings with friends or family either from the website or from the mobile application for iOS or Android.

SharePlay, on the other hand, is a functionality that is only available for Apple devices (with the exception of the Mac), which is used to view contents while making a call through the FaceTime service.
