The Danish Foreign Ministry has announced the summons of the Russian ambassador in the country to report to the diplomat an unauthorized incursion of a Russian plane into its airspace.

In his message, the minister has indicated that the summons of the ambassador will take place this coming Monday.

Both Denmark and Sweden allege that a Russian AN-30 aircraft trespassed into their airspace on Friday night while flying east of the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm, which lies off the southeastern coast of Denmark. Sweden.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine more than two months ago, there has been an intense debate in Sweden, as well as in neighboring Finland, about joining NATO.

Russia has repeatedly warned the two northernmost EU states against such a move. Denmark is already a member of the Western military alliance.
