Delcy Rodríguez discharges Cameron for criticizing the Essequibo claim

Delcy Rodríguez reminded David Cameron that the United Kingdom, together with the United States, were the architects of the Arbitration Award of 1899 and that, in addition, they signed the Geneva Agreement in 1966

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez responded on social networks to former British Prime Minister and current Chancellor of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, for his statements about the Essequibo and the claim made by Venezuela; stating that the European nation has fallen into “political, economic and social hardship” since Brexit (separation of the United Kingdom from the European Union).

In that sense, Rodríguez blamed Cameron for causing that country to leave the European Union, as well as underlining that there has been a “string” of prime ministers “without any popular support” who “misgovern” the British nation. .

He also recalled that the United Kingdom was one of the direct authors of the Paris Arbitration Award of 1899, which stripped Venezuela of the Essequibo territory – today in dispute with Guyana -, with the support of the United States. In addition, he confirmed that London is a signatory of the 1966 Geneva Agreement and accused it of wanting to damage it to validate what happened at the end of the 19th century.

Cameron refers to the set of decisions announced in recent days by President Nicolás Maduro, in which he created the Guayana Esequiba Comprehensive Defense Zone; He appointed a provisional military authority and created the PDVSA and CVG Essequibo divisions, among other things.
